Industry leaders agree…IT is revolting
In a new economy, with new rules, business strategies have to be agile and flexible to respond market demand and community influence. As Service Management professionals, we must fulfil our essential duty to provide value to our organisations and customers.  However, many believe that we are falling short and that our industry is not delivering the expected results. Most IT groups fail to get beyond the basics of Incident, Problem and Change to the more proactive processes in Service Strategy, Design and CSI. They struggle to; define Services, express IT activities in terms of business outcomes, and articulate the value of IT in business terms. At the end of 2013, a group of passionate industry people convened at the itSMF USA conference to discuss the fundamental transformation that needs to be brought about and issued a ‘Service Management call to action’. This session explores the need for change and explains how you can get involved to ensure that our industry, and your profession, remains relevant in the future.

Patrick Bolger joined Hornbill in 1998 as Sales & Marketing Director and assumed the role of Chief Marketing Officer in 2008. In 2010, Patrick was appointed Chief Evangelist.

Patrick is dedicated to the communication of industry best practices, working closely with customers, industry associations and IT luminaries to identify trends and educate organizations on the opportunity associated with service excellence.

Patrick is an active contributor to a number of strategic groups and partnerships that influence the service management industry, including the Service Desk Institute (SDI), Help Desk Institute (HDI), IT Service Management Forum (itSMF), Service Futures Group and Federation Against Software Theft (FAST).

Patrick helps ensure that Hornbill’s solutions adhere to industry best practice, supporting frameworks such as ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library). Patrick is a compelling and popular speaker at events worldwide and contributes to many industry publications.

Prior to Hornbill, Patrick was Technical Services Director for Integrated Digital Systems (IDS), where he was responsible for systems integration and technical consulting.

An industry veteran, Patrick has significant first-hand experience of the issues facing IT and is an influential and recognized authority in the service management arena.
