Configuration Management Course

Who should attend?
The course is recommended for the supervisors or system administrators of Hornbill Supportworks system who wish create, import, manage and maintain a configuration management database.


  • Use of the Windows Operating Environment. Preferably including the use of industry standard windows-based office products.
  • Attendance on the Touchpaper ITBM Core course.
  • Some knowledge of relational database theory or practical experience using relational databases.
  • Basic understanding of assets and configuration items.

The course covers the methods used to create and manage configuration items, import data from external data sources, create consolidated assets and configure configuration item structures to provide impact analysis.

As a result of attending this course, delegates should be able to:

  • Design and create versionable configuration items.
  • Create links to external data sources and import data.
  • Create consolidated assets from multiple external data sources.
  • Design and use configuration item structures for impact analysis.

  • Setting up connections to external data sources.
  • Creating asset views of external data sources.
  • Importing CI data from single data sources.
